Nearly Forgot

Only when they were miles down the road did they realise their mistake. Rodger the bagman looked over to Greg the driver. Their wide eyes met. They were thinking the same thing. As their unmarked van sped through the night, headlights dimmer than was strictly legal, they knew that they had to go back. It was a close call back there, but they had to risk it. They had to risk the checkpoints and the distancing regulations at the store. They had to because Rodger and Greg didn’t want to be the kind of parents that left their baby behind.
